There are plenty of Free plugins for WooCommerce that you can integrate to accept online payment in NPR. Depending on the Merchant you have, you can choose one of them, or create a Merchant account with them.
1) eSewa
If you’re a Merchant of eSewa, they have an official plugin available for Free in the WordPress repository. However, it doesn’t seem to have been updated for 3 years. So, it might not be compatible with the latest WooCommerce or PHP versions.
There is also another WooCommerce eSewa plugin which is unofficial but also not updated for years.
Another cons of using eSewa is they charge around Rs. 25000 for a Merchant account.
2) Khalti
Khati also provides an Official WooCommerce plugin for Free. Khalti is easy to set up and configure. It also doesn’t charge for Merchant account like eSewa. If you want to integrate Khalti in your WooCommerce store, follow the documentation by Khalti.
3) IME Pay
IME Pay is also a growing mobile wallet in Nepal. I personally use IME Pay to pay household bills. It’s also Nepal’s only Interest-paying payment gateway for your daily transactions.
IME Pay also provides a WordPress plugin for Free. Though, it’s not available in the WordPress.org repository – you can find the plugin and documentation here.
4) Fonepay
Fonepay provides the QR of the Merchant through the phone to make cashless transactions. In my opinion, it’s the simplest way of getting online payments, but not so easy for customers to pay. Anyway, there’s an unofficial plugin to integrate Fonepay in WordPress.
5) PrabhuPAY
PrabhuPAY is yet another digital wallet in Nepal. While it’s no different from any other wallet – if you are already familiar with PrabhuPAY and have it’s Merchant account, you can accept online payments via PrabhuPAY payments. There’s a WordPress Prabhu Pay Plugin.
Conclusion
These are the 5 payment gateway plugins available for Free. You can choose any of them depending on the Merchant account you have. While I recommend Fonepay for Merchant easiness, eSewa is the most popular and most have more customers than others.
You can also set up two or more payment gateways and customers can choose through which to pay. There’s also a The Smart Gateway which claims to provide an all-in-one solution, though I haven’t used them.
In case you have international customers and want them to pay in USD via international credit cards, the Himalayan Bank payment gateway is the recommended option.
